Promoting Independence through Vision Rehabilitation
Accessible Computer Training (ACT)

Sponsored by the Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind and Visually Impaired

ACT is an introductory training program that teaches computer skills to new users with blindness or visual impairment. Instruction is offered in free, weekly one-on-one sessions with a peer tutor.

Experience the power of technology or even prepare yourself to learn more advanced skills.

Areas of instruction include:
  • Keyboard, the Internet and email
  • Magnification programs for those with recent changes in vision
  • Screen reading programs that echo information on the screen for those with no vision

Instruction is available at the four regional libraries for the blind, as well as senior sites in Dearborn, Novi and Farmington Hills.
