GDABVI Announcement
Vote independently… it’s your right!
The Help America Vote Act of 2002 mandates that accessible voting equipment must be furnished in
polling places throughout the country. In the state of Michigan, all polling places should have
what is known as the ES&S AutoMARK voter assist terminal, which is designed to help those who are
disabled to vote with the same privacy and independence as those without disabilities.

Consumers learn how to use AutoMARK assist terminals at a GDABVI accessible voter training session.
Learn more about accessible voting and the AutoMARK terminal by listening to
the following Agency podcasts (mp3 files):
Podcast 1 -
Agency Case Manager Ollie Lester shares her experience as a consumer who has used the AutoMark
terminal to vote.
Podcast 2 -
Agency Administrator Christina Schlitt explains the AutoMARK voting process to Irene Woodell of the
Detroit Information Radio Service (DRIS).
