Walk for Warmth
Looking for a great winter activity to get out in the community and help people in need?
Join GDABVI staff and friends for the 18th annual Walk for Warmth sponsored by the Oakland Livingston
Human Service Agency on Sunday, February 17, from 1-3 p.m. at the Palace of Auburn Hills. The Walk
for Warmth raises funds to help families in need of heat during the winter.
We’re putting together a team of young walkers with visual impairments.
This walk-a-thon is a way for us to show support to people who need help paying their bills to
keep their homes warm in winter. If you can raise some money, bring it along! That’s GREAT.
If you can’t raise any money, then just come to show you care.
We want to get out and be a part of the community. Walking is a GREAT activity for people with
visual impairments. We’ll have a chance to explore the Palace where the Pistons play. We walk
inside, and you can walk for as long and as far as you’d like.
There is no cost. Registered participants receive a t-shirt. There’ll be snacks and games
and lots of GREAT fun activities for the whole family. Arrive at the Palace around 12:30 for
registration. The Palace is exit 81 going north on I-75.
Enter at the Comcast Pavilion North Entrance.
GDABVI will have a banner and we’ll need some volunteers to lead us.
For more information, and or to register to participate, call 313-272-3900 by February 11.
We need to know the walker’s name, age, phone number and t-shirt size.
GDABVI will not provide transportation for this program.
Families are welcome. Get some great exercise and help someone out this winter.
