November is Diabetic Eye Disease Month

There are approximately 29 million Americans who have diabetes, yet as many as 60-percent of those with diabetes do not get annual eye exams as recommended.

Between 12,000 and 24,000 individuals lose their vision each year due to diabetic retinopathy, but the risk of diabetic eye disease can be reduced with proper diet, exercise and medical supervision.

How much do you know about diabetic eye disease? Take a quiz from the National Eye institute (NEI).

You can also learn more at NEI's Diabetic Retinopathy page.
