Jeffrey D. Evans Re-Elected Board President for
Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind and Visually Impaired
DETROIT, Mich., January 6, 2006 – Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind and
Visually Impaired, a non-profit organization established in 1961 to develop
services and expand community influences to minimize the effects of blindness
and visual impairment, elected officers for the year 2006 at its Board of
Trustees Annual Meeting.

Jeffrey D. Evans of Bloomfield Hills, Risk Control Specialist at CNA,
was elected to his second one-year term as Board President.

Helen Daoud of Bloomfield, philanthropist, was re-elected Board Vice
President.

Leonard W. Robinson of Lake Orion, retired teacher, was re-elected
Board Secretary.

Bonnie Reyes of Plymouth, Vice President of Finance & Operations at
BetterInvesting, was appointed to her first term as Board Treasurer.

Carla E. Tademy-Blakey of Detroit, attorney and partner of Jaffe,
Raitt, Heuer and Weiss, P.C. in the Tax and Employee Benefits Practice
Groups, was chosen as Nominations Committee Chair and member of the
Executive Committee.

The Honorable Judge Paul S. Teranes of Grosse Pointe, Wayne County
Circuit Judge;

Richard H. Bernstein of Farmington Hills, trial attorney at the Law
Offices of Samuel I. Bernstein and adjunct professor at University of
Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI;

Carlos A. Mejia, Sr. of Redford, District Sales Coordinator for AFLAC
Incorporated;

Fred Shorter, D.D.S. of Lathrup Village, and
-
Fredrick J. Simpson of Detroit, Retired Executive Director of the
Royal Oak Township Housing Commission.

Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind and Visually Impaired
is to provide quality, innovative services that increase self-reliance,
productivity, and dignity for persons who are blind or visually impaired.
Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind and Visually Impaired serves seven
Southeast Michigan counties including Wayne, Oakland, Monroe, Livingston,
Macomb, St. Clair and Washtenaw. A United Way Agency, Greater Detroit Agency for
the Blind and Visually Impaired is accredited by the National Accreditation
Council for Agencies Serving People with Blindness or Visual Impairment (NAC)
